First, I want to address some people’s concerns about whether Dad has enough money. Greg knows more about this than me, but I do know that having sold his house, Dad has over $1.5M. This is more than enough for the rest of his life. This doesn’t include the value of his current/former stock market shares.
This statement was issued by Kelly Lawers in 2022. For online security and personal privacy reasons, I have redacted Dad’s old address and the last name of the buyer. Also, this image is not an invitation to start speculating over Dad’s financial affairs or family inheritance.
On outings, Dad and I share the cost of any food and fuel. This both makes regular outings more sustainable and allows Dad some sense of independence.
Dad usually pays for any additional health services or devices. Sometimes, I will invest in a device/aid for myself, and if needed, lend it to Dad for free.
Dad pays the monthly rent and insurance fees on his storage unit at Aspley National Storage. Given the number of price rises over the last few years, this is a cost that Dad and I would like to either eliminate or reduce soon.
Dad has repeatedly expressed his belief that other residents are coming into his room and stealing his wallet. In reality, he keeps forgetting where it was put. I can usually find it within a few minutes. Nonetheless, for his peace of mind, he has asked that I keep his wallet at my place. There is nothing at Regis that requires his wallet. This also solved an issue where staff did not always pack his wallet before an outing.
