As per Dad’s wishes, any family member or close friend is welcome to visit or contact him at any reasonable time. While I have personally chosen to engage with certain family members less often, neither Greg nor I have attempted to limit – or instructed anybody else to limit – anybody’s direct access to Dad.
The DV order between Micheal and Dad only prohibits Micheal from coming within 100m of Dad’s home (Regis). Micheal is legally allowed to contact Dad directly in other ways/places. This DV order will expire soon. When it does, Micheal will be legally allowed to visit Dad at Regis in person. Given that Dad is preoccupied with geriatrics, Dad rarely thinks – much less brings up anything to do with Micheal or this DVO.
The DV order between Micheal and me only prohibits Micheal from coming within 100m of my home. Micheal is legally allowed to contact me and participate in events I organise. While I am not convinced that he is as mentally stable as he told the court, I have officially rejected any additional restrictions against Michael. Instead, I have made a personal decision to engage with Micheal only on certain terms. These terms are based on the explanation he gave to the Court for his actions – not a desire for revenge. I will outline these terms in a future post.
